HARRISONBURG, Va. – Skyla Davidson and
Jordan Otto of James Madison track & field led the way in the final day of competition at the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Track and Field Championships by claiming gold medals on Saturday at Sentara Park.

As a team, JMU finished sixth with a total of 71 points. Elon took home the team title racking up a total of 191.5 points.

Davidson claimed the first gold medal for the Dukes as she landed in first place in the triple jump. On her final attempt, she recorded a distance of 12.26 meters which was .01 meters past the previous first place mark.

Otto competed in the high jump and cleared a season-best mark of 1.65m on her first attempt to claim the champion title. Her mark placed her seventh all-time in program history.

Bethany Biggi made a huge leap in the heptathlon as she climbed up from seventh place following the first day of events, to take the bronze medal in the event with a season-best point total of 4,351. With that performance, Biggi moved up to seventh all-time in program history.

Dominique Johnson earned a bronze medal in the discus throw as she recorded a throw of 44.59 meters. On the first day,
Shelby Staib took home the bronze medal in the javelin throw with a distance of 43.94 meters.
