MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – James Madison track & field saw three Dukes score to tally 15 points on day one of the Sun Belt Outdoor Championships on Thursday night at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. JMU sits in sixth with four of the 21 events completed, while Marshall leads the way with 28 points.

Shelby Staib picked up eight points for the Dukes after she earned silver in the javelin with a throw of 47.10m (154' – 6"). Also in the field, classmate
Rachel Lloyd cleared 3.76m (12' – 4") in the pole vault for eighth to grab another point for JMU.
On the track, junior
Miranda Stanhope took third in the 10,000-meter race, finishing in 34:53.27. For Stanhope, she has medaled in every SBC event she's competed in, having earned gold in the 3,000-meter race (9:35.15) and silver in the 5,000-meter competition (16:38.56), respectively, during the indoor season.

Multi Events
- Senior Erin Babashak opened the day with a personal-best time of 15.17 in the 100-meter hurdles.
- Classmate Bethany Biggi placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.66m (5' – 5.25") for an outdoor PR.
- Through four events of the heptathlon, Biggi (2,669) and Babashak (2,635) sit in 13th and 14th, respectively.
Track Events
- In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Sofia Lavreshina punched her ticket to the finals, crossing the finish line in 1:01.02. Her time was good for second in her heat and third overall.
- Seniors Sinead Sargeant (4:44.83) and Jessica Cantrell (4:45.20) recorded career-best times in the 1500-meter prelims.
- Elsewhere on the track, sophomore Kaia Putman recorded a PR of 25.03 in the fifth heat of the 200-meter dash.
