BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – James Madison track & field saw two Dukes earn podium finishes on the final day of competition as the team placed 10th overall on Tuesday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Arkansas State took home its fifth consecutive team title with 86.5 points, while Coastal Carolina finished runner-up with 81. Texas State placed third with 77 points, followed Marshall (62) and Southern Miss (59.5) to round out the top five.
Junior
Jordyn Henderson registered a school-record time of 8.30 in the 60-meter hurdles for third. Coming into the meet, Henderson owned the fastest program time at 8.34, set at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Feb. 9. Louisiana's Kennedy London won the event in 8.27, while Amanda Kinloch of Coastal Carolina picked up silver in 8.29.
Senior
Miranda Stanhope recorded a silver effort in the 3,000-meter race with a season-best 9:30.99, while sophomore
Katherine Lawson rounded out the top five in 9:38.22. CCU's Molly Jones took home gold in 9:25.94, a meet record.
How It Happened
- Junior Holly Mpassy crossed the finish line in 55.94 for fifth in the 400-meter dash.
- Later, the 4x400-meter relay team of junior Virginia Keys, sophomore Kadence Wilson, freshman Esther Saint-Germain and Mpassy clocked in a season-best time of 3:46.93 for fifth. The group's time is also good for fifth in the JMU record book.
- In the high jump, Paige Miller cleared 1.59m (5-2.5) for a personal best.

"This Sun Belt was tough for us. We had some strong performances but not enough depth to finish where we desired as a team. All the returners came back to the Sun Belt doing better than ever. Stanhope, Henderson, Lawson, and Mpassy did a great job leading the team with our top performances."
