JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – James Madison track & field recorded 10 top-three finishes and won six event titles on day one of North Florida's Bob Hayes Invitational on Friday night.
The Dukes captured four victories in the field, three in jumps and one in throws. Senior
Jordan Venning recorded a win in the long jump with a leap of 5.27m (17-3.5), while junior
Jaiden Martellucci won the discus competition with a throw of 42.91m (140-9) and later finished runner-up in the hammer throw at 44.04m (144-6).Â
The high jump competition saw sophomore
Gracen King clear a personal-best 1.65m (5-5) to tie for first with Jacksonville's Drea Thompson. King's mark is good to tie for ninth in the JMU record book. In the pole vault, senior
Erica Moolman earned gold at 3.70m (11-9.75), followed by freshman
Maddie Moles in second with a mark of 3.45m (11-3.75). Moles' effort makes her the fifth-best outdoor pole vaulter in program history.
Junior
Jordyn Henderson picked up where she left off, earning a victory in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.86. Senior
Miranda Stanhope picked up a win in the 1,500-meter competition, crossing the finish line in 4:34.91. Sophomore
Katherine Lawson finished closely behind (5th – 4:39.49), while freshman
Kristin Giordano took eighth in 4:50.16.
In the 200-meter dash, sophomore
Kadence Wilson registered a PR of 24.70 for fifth. Fifth-year
McKenzi Watkins posted a PR of 18:03.83 in the 5,000-meter competition, while sophomore
Faithe Ketchum ran a personal-best 18:32.0. Freshman
Esther Saint-Germain opened her first collegiate outdoor meet with a bronze effort of 59.00 in the 400-meter dash. Â
