Putman Named Sun Belt Conference Track Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – James Madison track & field sprinter Kaia Putman earned Track Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the Sun Belt Conference on Wednesday morning.

Last week, Putman posted victories in the 100-meter dash (11.81) and 200-meter dash (24.19) at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on May 1. The Charlotte, N.C. native's effort in the 200-meter dash places her fifth in the JMU record book, while her 100-meter dash time was .01 seconds off from tying her career high of 11.80, good for sixth in program history.

Putman and the Dukes are set for Sun Belt Conference Championships on May 9-11 in Monroe, La., hosted by ULM. Action at Groseclose Track at Brown Stadium will stream all three days on ESPN+.
