MONROE, La. – James Madison track & field saw pole vaulter
Erica Moolman earn a spot on the podium on day one of the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Groseclose Track on Thursday afternoon.

Moolman cleared 3.72m (12-2.5) on her first attempt for bronze, while Alexi Gratia of South Alabama finished runner-up at 3.87m (12-8.25) and Bella Coscetti took the victory with a mark of 3.97m (13-0.25).

Jaiden Martellucci kicked off the day for JMU with a season-best throw of 46.35m (152-0). On the track, classmate
Sofia Terenziani punched her ticket to the 1,500-meter final after crossing the finish line in 4:42.03 for 11th in the prelims.

Through three events scored, Louisiana is in the lead with 38.5 points, followed by Texas State (2nd – 24) and South Alabama (3rd – 17.5). The Dukes sit in fifth with six points, trailing Arkansas State in fourth (14).

Due to inclement weather, the men's 400-meter hurdles prelims, men's and women's 200-meter dash prelims, men's and women's 10,000-meter run and men's javelin were all postponed until Friday morning.
