LYNCHBURG, Va. –
Erica Moolman and
Jordyn Henderson set the tone for James Madison track & field on day one at Liberty's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Friday night.
Moolman jumped a career-best 3.75m (12-3.5) in the pole vault to tie for second, improving her second-place mark in the JMU record book. The senior's previous-best mark was a 3.71m (12-2) effort set at the Virginia Tech Invite earlier this season.
Henderson won the second heat of the 60-meter hurdles in 8.43 to advance to Saturday's finals. The Chester, Va. native currently owns the third-fastest time in the event in the Sun Belt Conference with an 8.39 clip at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge last weekend.
Elsewhere on the track,
Sidney Walters improved her 3,000-meter time by over 30 seconds with a 10:06.53 performance. Additionally,
Faithe Ketchum (10:12.88),
Faith Ford (10:38.73),
Sarah Cestare (10:53.50) and
Elizabeth Rainey (10:59.41) all registered personal bests in the event.
Merrick Mock produced a PR of 2:15.85 in the 800-meter run invite, the second-fastest time by a Duke this season behind
Alayna Gifford's 2:13.86.
