CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – James Madison's 4x100-meter relay turned in the second-fastest time in program history as the Dukes bridged the gap between the CAA and ECAC meets by sending a few competitors to the Virginia Grand Prix on Friday night at Lannigan Field.
"We weren't very sharp with our handoffs coming off of exam week and the weekend after CAA finals," Director of Track and Field
Ta' Frias said. "I wasn't expecting too much but was glad to see that they ran well despite not being as sharp as we were after the conference meet."
The team of freshman
Aereale Scott, sophomore
Annie Johnson, sophomore
De'Ana Forbes and sophomore
Kennedy King finished in 46.02 seconds. The group climbed the school chart after winning gold in the event at last week's CAA Championship in 46.23 seconds.
Scott also competed individually in the 100-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 14.33 seconds, good for seventh in school history. Frias said, "We weren't as clean through the hurdles, but it's good to see that we can run fast given that we were still a little tired and still a little banged up.
Freshman
Tyrah Burrow stayed loose in competition by running the 300-meter dash in 40 seconds flat.
All five individuals will be part of the delegation that JMU sends to the 2015 ECAC Championships next weekend in Princeton.
