FAIRFAX, Va. – James Madison track and field put on show at the George Mason Winter Fiesta on Saturday as multiple Dukes set personal records in the sole day of competition.

To kick off action, sophomores
Bethany Biggi and
Erin Babashak fought hard in the pentathlon as they finished second and fifth, respectively with 3,235 and 3,038 points. In the pentathlon 800m race, Biggi won the race as she tied her personal record in 2:28.30 while Babashak set her personal record in 2:37.38.

Additionally, Biggi set her personal best in the pentathlon high jump with a leap of 1.61m to win the event. Continuing the personal record trend in field events, freshman
Paige Miller set her season-best mark in the high jump at 1.55 meters which landed her in second.

In the pole vault, sophomore
Rachel Lloyd finished in fifth place in a personal-best mark of 3.56 meters. Rounding out the field event personal-record breakers is junior
Jamie Richards who secured a personal-best mark in the weight throw at 13.22m.

Senior
Sophie Bollinger led the way for the Dukes in the running events as she finished in second place in the 1,000m race in 3:03.96, just .53 seconds slower than first place. Classmate
Maggie Linton also earned a second-place finish but in the 500m race with a personal record time of 1:16.79.

JMU's freshmen continued to show improvements as
Rachel Mayberry and
Mary Milby improved their 800m times in 2:23.52 and 2:26.43, respectively. Freshman
Maya Gary recorded a personal record time of 27.60 in the 200m race.

Maggie Linton's performance in the 500m,
Bethany Biggi in the pentathlon and
Rachel Lloyd's personal record in the pole vault," head coach
Ron McCown said. "As a team, we see what we need to improve on going into the outdoor season and we will keep working hard to make those improvements."
