WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –
Shelby Staib took home first place in the javelin throw to lead James Madison track & field in the first day of competition at the Colonial Relays held at William & Mary on Friday.

In her second outdoor competition of her career, Staib won her second consecutive javelin throw with a mark of 44.43 meters. She improved her distance by .87 meters and moved up to third all-time in program history.

Dominique Johnson followed behind with a third-place finish in the shot put, launching a season-high distance of 13.06 meters.
Dardlie Lefevre also earned a third-place finish at the meet as she claimed the bronze medal in the long jump at 5.62m, the longest distance for a Duke in the long jump this season.

Jordan Otto nearly earned a podium finish in the high jump as she finished fourth with a leap of 1.53m. The top-three high jumpers all registered a mark of 1.58m.
Erin Babashak just missed third place in the 100m hurdles as she crossed the finish line in fourth in 15.36 seconds which was .12 seconds behind third.

In the final event of the night,
Caitlin Swanson won the 10,000m race with a time of 36:53.90 which was 28 seconds faster than second place.
