HARRISONBURG, Va. – Shelby Staib led the way for James Madison track & field in the first day of action at the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Track and Field Championships held at Sentara Park on Friday.

Staib earned JMU's first medal of the championship as she landed in third place in the javelin throw with a mark of 43.94 meters, which she achieved on her last throw of the day.

Three Dukes qualified for the finals in their respective track events.
Dardlie Lefevre finished second in her heat in a time of 25.32 in the 200m race while
Brooke Manion (4:44.98) and
Maggie Linton (2:17.84) advanced to the finals in the 1,500m and 800m races, respectively.

After four events in the heptathlon,
Bethany Biggi sits seventh with 2,585 points while
Erin Babashak is 10th with 2,506 points.
