HARRISONBURG, Va. – Shelby Staib will represent James Madison track & field at the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Round held at the University of North Florida on Thursday.

Staib will compete in the javelin throw with hopes of making it to the Championships held in Eugene, Ore., on June 9-12. The javelin throw is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start time tomorrow with Staib throwing in the first flight.

The freshman is the sole Duke to make an appearance this year and becomes the fifth student-athlete under head coach
Ron McCown's tenure to make an NCAA Regional appearance since he came to JMU in 2018. She qualified for NCAAs at the VCU Last Chance on May 16, recording a personal-best mark of 45.38 meters (148' 10 1/2") that won the event.
