LEXINGTON, Va. – James Madison track & field's
Bethany Biggi and
Erin Babashak finished first and second, respectively, in the pentathlon to highlight day one of the VMI Winter Relays.

Biggi earned gold in the event with her personal-best mark of 3,409 points. The Lumberton, N.J. native moved up to fifth-place in the JMU all-time top 10 for the indoor pentathlon.

Babashak also had a top-10 performance with her second-place mark of 3,297 points. Her finish landed her at eighth on the top-10 list.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Biggi and Babashak each collected two first-place finishes in the pentathlon.
- Biggi won both the high jump (1.64m/5' 4.5") and the shot put (9.60m/31' 6"). Babshak finished first in the 60m hurdles (9.32) and the long jump (5.45m/17' 10.75").
- Rookie
Jordyn Henderson also had an impressive day for the Dukes with her second-place finish in the 60m hurdles prelim. Henderson won her heat with a time of 8.78 to advance to tomorrow's finals.
- JMU's 4x800m relay squad of
Annie Dunlop,
Mary Milby,
Sinead Sargeant and
Sofia Terenziani ran to a second-place finish of 9:20.34.

Rachel Lloyd tied for fourth in the pole vault with her mark of 11' 5.75" (3.50m).
- In the triple jump,
Jordan Venning registered a mark of 37' 2.25" (11.33m) to finish fifth.

Paris Beaver and
Alex Kwasnik finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the high jump. Beaver recorded a mark of 5' 3" (1.60m) while Kwasnik finished at 5' 1" (1.55m).

- "It was great for Bethany and Erin to finish first and second in the pentathlon today," expressed head coach
Ron McCown. "Both achieved their personal best score and both moved up on the top 10 list. We also had notable performances by Jordyn in the hurdles and our 4x800."
