BOSTON – James Madison track & field wrapped up the 2023 Eastern College Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships with a runner-up team finish on Sunday at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center.

The Dukes completed the weekend with 63 points to take second place. Howard won the women's team title with 92 points, while Bucknell was third with 44.5 points.

JMU tallied 47 points during Sunday's events, as the Dukes produced one school record, one individual champion, and a pair of runner-up finishes.

Skyla Davidson earned gold in the triple jump while freshman
Asia Powell (60 meter dash) and junior
Miranda Stanhope (3000 meter run) each claimed a runner-up finish with a program record time of 9:23.40.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Track Events
- Powell clocked in at 7.51 in the 60m dash, tying former Dukes Alexys Taylor and Marissa McDonald as the second-fastest individuals in program history. Tanique Carter set the school record in 2009 with a 7.50 clip .
- In the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore Jordyn Henderson took home fifth place with a time of 8.49 seconds, while Davidson was eighth in 8.72 seconds. Both Dukes improved on their semifinal times of 8.59 and 8.76, respectively.
- In the 400 meter dash, sophomore Holly Mpassy crossed the line in a season-best time of 54.79 seconds, which was good for fourth place. She improved on her preliminary time of 55.08. Howard's Jessica Wright won the race in a meet-record time of 52.16.
- Aside from Stanhope's second-place effort, senior Laura Webb finished in 13th with a career-best time of 9:45.26.
Field Events
- Davidson won the ECAC title and set a personal-best in the triple jump with a leap of 12.60 meters (41' 4.25"), besting Holy Cross' Obiamaka Igwenagu by .03 meters.
- Joining Davidson with a fourth-place showing was junior Jordan Venning, who turned in a career-best jump of 12.35 meters (40'6.25"). Her mark makes her the third-best indoor triple jumper in program history.
