BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – James Madison track & field is tied for sixth with 12 points after the first day of the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships, scoring in two events inside the Birmingham CrossPlex on Monday.
Texas State is in the lead with 34 points, followed by Arkansas State (33), Coastal Carolina (25), ULM (23) and Marshall (20). Meanwhile, the Dukes are tied with Georgia Southern and App State.
Senior
Miranda Stanhope recorded a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter race in 16:42.89, while sophomore
Katherine Lawson notched fourth in 16:52.73 to make up 11 of the Duke's 12 points. The distance medley relay crew of junior
Evie Bell, freshman
Esther Saint-Germain, freshman
Kristin Giordano and sophomore
Faithe Ketchum clocked in at 12:18.19 for seventh.
Elsewhere on the track,
Jordyn Henderson registered the fastest 60-meter hurdles time with an 8.37 clip in the prelims. JuniorÂ
Kaia Putman ran a personal-best 7.60 in the 60-meter dash prelims, tied for the ninth-fastest in the JMU record book. Later in the day, Putman finished the prelims of the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.74, making her the fourth-fastest Duke in the event in program history.
