BOSTON – James Madison track & field picked up nine points and saw five Dukes qualify for the next round of competition on the second day of the ECAC Indoor Championships inside the Boston University Track & Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
Through five of 20 events scored, Manhattan leads the way with 42 points, followed by Bucknell (19.5) and Cornell (18). JMU sits in eighth with nine points, all coming from senior
Miranda Stanhope (4th - 16:33.96) and sophomore
Katherine Lawson (5th - 16:41.29) in the 5,000-meter race. Stanhope's time marked a season-best, while Lawson's PR moved her to No. 4 in program history.
Junior
Kaia Putman opened the day with a 7.64 clip in the prelims of the 60-meter dash before clocking in at 7.51 in the semis – good to tie for second in the JMU record book. Her career day continued with a 24.61 effort in the 200-meter dash prelims for third. Classmate
Jordyn Henderson also advanced in two events, registering times of 7.65 in the 60-meter dash semis and 8.40 in the 60-meter hurdles. Henderson's time in the hurdles paced all in the event and was .13 seconds faster than the next best competitor.
In the 400-meter dash prelims, juniorÂ
Holly Mpassy and sophomore
Kadence Wilson advanced to the finals with times of 55.39 and 56.10, respectively. Wilson's outing was a season-best and was .10 seconds off her career-best 56.00, set at last year's ECAC Indoor Championships.

The ECAC Indoor Championships will conclude tomorrow, starting with the women's shot put and men's triple jump at 10 a.m. Following the meet, the Dukes will turn their attention to the outdoor season, beginning with North Florida's Bob Hayes Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., March 15-16.
