At JMU: Fifth-year Duke who is a gifted athletic and who the JMU staff hopes will assume a major role, said OL coach Curt Newsome… expected starter at OT… a top OL reserve for most of 2004 and started last season’s playoff opener at Lehigh at OT in place of senior Jamaal Crowder… starter throughout 2003 at OT… is good in pass protection and will be a more-effective player as he becomes more physical, said Newsome… became a starter midway through 2002 after recovering from a knee problem… sat out 2001 as a true freshman.
High School: Captain in football, basketball, and track at Surrattsville… as a senior was an all-league OL and all-county and team MVP in basketball… led the football team in power blocks and was a shot putter in track… as a junior was honorable mention all-county in football and the county rebounding and blocked shots leader in basketball.
