Price… adjusted to a move from LB early last season and again is expected to be among the team’s top defenders… slowed during spring drills by a shoulder problem.
2004: Played in 13 of 15 games and made seven starts, including the team’s final five games … missed the Virginia Military and Delaware games… had 35 tackles, including 20 solo stops, six tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks… forced fumbles at Villanova and Richmond and recovered a fumbled punt to set up a TD in the playoffs at William & Mary… had season highs of four tackles vs. Lock Haven, Richmond and Towson… involved in two sacks in the playoffs at Lehigh and one vs. Villanova, Richmond and William & Mary at home.
2003: Played in all 12 games (11 starts)… No. 2 on the team in tackles and had 7.5 stops for loss, four QB hurries and four pass deflections… had 10 games with five or more tackles and four games with 10 or more… had 17 tackles (11 primary), 2.5 stops for loss, a shared sack and an interception at Massachusetts… had 12 tackles (seven primary) and a stop for loss at Virginia Tech… had 12 tackles (eight primary) and a stop for loss at New Hampshire… had 10 tackles (seven primary) and a stop for loss vs. Liberty… had a sack among six stops at William & Mary… had six stops and returned a fumble 12 yards for a TD vs. Richmond.
2002: Played in each game as a true freshman… No. 2 on the team in tackles… had 12 tackles for loss and six QB hurries… recovered a fumble to set up the TD that gave JMU a 21-14 lead vs. William & Mary… started first at OLB and at ILB after Dennard Melton was hurt at Delaware… during JMU’s final five games had 75 tackles -- 17 at Richmond, 14 vs. Massachusetts, eight at Rhode Island, 21 vs. William & Mary, and 15 at Northeastern and led JMU in tackles in each game except at Rhode Island… had 14 primary stops vs. William & Mary and 11 vs. Richmond and Northeastern… Football Gazette’s national defensive player of the week for his play vs. William & Mary… had sacks vs. William & Mary, vs. Maine, and Richmond.
Before JMU: Two-time Eastern Massachusetts and Greater Boston all-star at Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School… played in 2001 at Bridgton (Maine) Academy… team MVP and captain… Sprint Factory Magazine top prep player and a Shriners all-star game participant.
